who had learning/physical issues, I was in such a place of exhaustion and darkness.  My confidence, sense of self, direction, light, energy – it was all gone. I had left the marriage, but I had no idea where I was going.  I recall my first session with Jess, and I told her that I was the female who took off to Europe on my own with a backpack at the age of 23 – I was confident – I was fearless.  Where did that person go?  I just couldn’t see through the fog to reach her.

Jess helped me clear away that fog so that I could join hands with my former self.  One day as she is listening to me, she says, “Marilyn, emotions are not fact”.  Those few words were life changing for me, as over the years I had  allowed my negative emotions to build a substructure that was totally inaccurate and not serving me.  My sense of failure, sadness, shame – was all being kept alive by my emotions- and keeping me in that dark hole.   Slowly, I learned to challenge those emotions, refusing to let them dictate my actions and sense of sense, and filtering the facts, thereby creating a substructure that was built on solid pieces of who I was and where I was going.

After working with Jess, I was able to start putting my life back together – one that I wanted and not for someone else.  I bought my beautiful home that is now filled with peace and warmth, and I so enjoy coming in that door at the end of the day.  I asked for a raise at work – one that was long overdue.  The number I requested was high, thinking that I could negotiate it down and  I wrote a lengthy email to  my boss, praising my accomplishments and contributions.  I received exactly what I asked for.  Relationships were- and still are – a terrifying thing for me.  Jess helped me envision exactly what I wanted and needed, and hence “my gentle giant” has been in my life for two years now.  He makes me laugh every day.  Just this summer, my sister turned to me, smiled, and said, “Marilyn, you have your sparkle back”.  Jess gave me my sparkle back, and I will always be eternally grateful.

challenging time, and she helped me get through it. She had the perfect perspective I needed. More generally, she taught me tools and meditation techniques that I use often to manage day-to-day stresses and see life with the proper perspective. As part of our time together, she took me through exercises where we looked at each decade of my life, what happened during each, and helped me see how those experiences have shaped my current mind set. Out of those insights, I’ve been able to make changes and move forward. As part of her coaching, I took the Gallup Core Strengths assessment and she helped me interpret the results, which I continue to apply to my life now and for the foreseeable future.
